Tche Tche

Location: Marina crescent (behind TGI fridays)

Okay so this one is kinda popular, since its at the mall and all.

During weekends its packed most of the time, expect to wait for a table if your dude... for gals there's plenty of seating. Outdoor seating is provided with heaters and fans for weather accommodations. The view of the lil bay is nice, although depending on the weather it can make it unbearable (strong winds, humidity.. etc).

I found the seating to be average bordering on uncomfortable, the outdoors has metal chairs, the indoor wooden ones and an in-wall couch for the gals area (i guess those are comfortable, but i havent tried them). There's also a separated indoor section for gals which I havent been to, so if you have please let me know how it is!

Naturally its pretty noisy, with people moving about and music playin, so if your lookin for a  quiet place to chill, i'd go else where. Worthy of note is the abundance of TV's, so its an ok choice for watchin games (Although I'd be skeptical of the fact that you might hear the TV because they only have music playin). electrical outlets arent plentiful, so if its packed you might not find an outlet for your laptop.

Hookas are good, and their menu has a good variety of foods and drinks which i have found to be consistent in good quality if not great. there are about 3 guys on coal duty, so that wasnt an issue, however service can get pretty slow depending on how busy they are. Generally its easy to catch the attention of one of the waiters if you want to order something.
Prices are above average, with a cover charge on weekends (i think its 3kd), but its within acceptable limits.

9 ten (or is it 19?)

Location: Hawally, next to bin 5aldooun street, Hawthorn hotel, 19th floor (yes 19!)

First off, yea its kind of mad3oosa and I dont think that a lot of people know about it because 9ayra bil 7oosa in 7awally. Naturally, parking is bad in that area so you gotta be lucky.

The place is devided into 3 sections, general, gals, and the roof (which is a bad idea during this time of year). the place is pretty classy, they had good music playing too (arabic & hiphop remixes) , but it was kind of loud i thought. It has an excellent view of the surrounding area, with large windows. The seats are also more comfortable than other places i've been to.

Hookas are good with consistent quality from my experience, their drinks are also good. 1 guy on coal duty, and that was kind of annoying considering how small the place was. Service was average, a bunch of times we had to wait a while for our stuff to show up. Prices were also slightly above average, but within acceptable limits considering the place.

Classical

Location: next to marina mall, salmiya side. visible from gulf street.

Ok, so I haven't been there in like a week or so, but I used to go there semi-frequently partly because I found that the staff were friendly and such.

I guess that the best thing is that it has a very good location. there's plenty of parking, because infront of it there's an (check out the translation) empty piece of land {bara7a} lol. Also note that its walking distance from the Marina indoor parking, so thats a huge plus.

There are a good amount of seats available i guess it can fit 100 peeps total, as well as a balcony which the seaside can be seen from. The interior is divided into 4 sections which are open to each other but are separated on the basis of guys and gals, so if your looking for privacy, go elsewhere.

They have an OK sized menu which includes foods and drinks in a large variety, my usual plain turkish is inconsistent in quality though. Their hooka quality has been consistent with me so far, and although its not spectacular, its the average you would find probably anywhere. There's only one guy on coal duty, so expect long wait times for that during weekends when its busy.

During weekends they have live music playing, arabic music which im not too big on, but if you like that sort of thing then its up 2 ya (as is everything :P)

thats all folks

Port cafe - initial review

Location: next to soug sharg, under the bridge on the right when you enter.

Alright guys, this is an exclusive "ON THE FLY" review! actually this is the first time i come here. during my break @ midday.

So its hot, humid and a feeling of urgency are rushing through me, since i only have about 1.5 hours to relax until im thrown back into the fray.

I must say the bay view is spectacular, and the interior is pretty nice, kind of a ship interior theme, even though im not ye ol' sailor, but i dig it

Plenty of tables outside, the interior can take about 40 peoples ..... so i can probably predict during peak times it can be jam packed easily.

Service was pretty fast, but this was probably due the few people around. still it suited me fine.
The hooka is good, however since this is my first time here I can't comment on consistency.
I ordered my usual plain turkish, it was a little watery, and my friend said that his cocktail wasnt very fresh.

So thats all for the time being!

Degool cafe

Location: el man6eqa el 7orra (idk the name in english)

This is the place i go to from time to time during my midday break at work when im workin the long shifts, and rarely when im with my buddies on weekends. probably due to the fact that (to me) its out of the way from the main city.
Being next to some kind of cargo area for containers, there isnt really a nice view or anything. There's plenty of parking space, but no shaded areas.

Plenty of air conditioning makes it a good choice during the daytime when its hot, and plenty of power outlets is a plus for laptop users. At one point they had free internet (not sure if they still do), but as usual when it comes to internet, free = crap, but working.

Hooka quality is average, but not much fluctuation from what i've seen. service is pretty average, with 1 or 2 guys on coal duty.

guys and gals have separate areas, the dude area has about 4 or 5 big screens that are spread around. if your lookin for a place to watch a big game or somethin its not bad, but dont expect good seating if you show up late.

The mission!

Alright, so its been about 7 months since i came back to Kuwait, and i've been away for like 5 or 6 years.

So being a regular hooka (shisha) smoker i spent a good deal of time goin around a bunch of hooka bars (AKA gahawy) to find one im comfortable in, and its proven to be a frustrating task due to the fluctuating nature of most of them.

THEREFORE! I decided to go around and jot up my impressions about them all, and hopefully it will save some of you time.
I decided to not use anykind of grading system for the time being until a do a bunch of reviews and get a good feel for this type of thing.

Most importantly, this is not in any shape or form a commercial type of deal, just my personal impression!
